| DEPARTMENTS AND COLLEGE About Us Padmanava College of Engineering (PCE),set up under the aegis of "Padmanava Education Trust " (PET)in 1999 , has some eminent personalities like Mr. T R Patanaik , Engineer .D R Patnaik, its members . It is a registered non-government organisation dedicated for promoting and quality education in the state and the country as well . The head quarter of the trust is at Bhubaneswar PCE .has been set up on a prime land (measuring over 7 acres) in the heart of the steel city, Rourkela. Away from the jostle bustle of city life , the institute constructed over an area of Thirty Seven thousand sq. ft. ,nestled amidst a lush green surroundings to add to its ambience, thus providing the right kind of atmosphere for pursuing educational activities of such demanding nature. THE CAMPUS & ITS FACILITIES WHERE LEARNING IS EVOLVING Spread over picturesquely landscaped area of seven acres in the heart of the steel city, Rourkela sector -4, yet away from the jostle bustle of the city life, the campus along with the famous Indira Gandhi Park, lies within the bracket formed by the Ring Road in the eastern side and the road that separates PCE from the STPI in the western side. The lush green and serene atmosphere provides a fitting ambience for academic pursuits where learning really means evolving. FACULTY THE FACILITATORS OF ENLIGHTENMENT One of the remarkable strength of PCE is its faculty, that is composed of persons with outstanding academic merit and proper experience and proven teaching skills with strong dedication to the cause of quality education. LABORATORY FOR REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE The well equipped specious laboratories of PCE are designed and set up as per the norms of AICTE and Sambalpur University, with an aim to provide every student the scope to critically examine the theoretical aspects and to develop required skill. The laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, are equipped with ultra-modern and computerised equipment and apparatus. Besides the Electronics Laboratory (Analog, Circuit, Design & Testing, Digital and Communication) is well furnished and equipped with all modern and latest gadgets. The Computer laboratory of the institute is equipped with 109 PCs (800MHz/ P-III). Two inter-net laboratories of the institute enjoy connectivity through VSAT with 30 systems, which are being upgraded to achieve a student system ratio of 1:1, with 300 systems from the ensuing session. PCE maintains A/V Room with multimedia presentation for 30 student- batch. LIBRARY FOR GOING BEYOND THE HORIZON PCE has well-furnished and well-stocked library with adequate numbers of books on the related subject both in the category of Text and Reference. The library has a Book Bank along with spacious Reading Room facilities. Constant addition of latest Publications and subscription to different Technical Journal and magazines makes it a heaven for the seekers and to cater to the need of the ever-inquisitive students, faculty, professionals and the visiting faculty. PCE is an active member of DELNET online library for exchange and sharing of programs and information both in national and international scale. TRAINING & PLACEMENT FOR REAL SERVICE TO THE NATION & MANKIND The institute takes utmost care to expose the students to the real life requirements of industry and social commitment while arranging the statutory vocational summer training. PCE has one technical forum for each department that conducts Seminars, Quiz and Group Discussions involving the students so as to enhance their technical skill and knowledge apart from usual academic progress. Besides the institute has a Training and Placement cell manned by experienced Public Relation and Human Resources professionals and are in the process of developing rapport with prospective employers of its products in due course of time. D.R.Patnaik , Director,PCE,Rourkela ADMISSION PROCEDURE MERIT IS THE KEY As per the prevalent stipulations the minimum eligibility criteria for admission to B.E1st.semester is as below: 1)Pass in +2 Science Examination of CHSE, Orissa, or equivalent thereto wit Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (Passed separately in all subjects.) OR 2)Pass in 3-Year Diploma course in Engineering course conducted by the State council of Technical Education & Vocational Training, Orissa or equivalent thereto. As per the norms presently set by the AICTE, New Delhi, 50% of the total seats are free seats, and the rest 50% of are catagorised as payment seats which includes 5% of the total seats earmarked as NRI/Management seats. Admission to seats under the NRI/Management category, are given on the basis of merit in terms of higher percentage of marks secured at +2 level, as per the guidelines issued by DTET, Govt. of Orissa. LATERAL ENTRY Seats equaling to 10% of the total intake are open for lateral entry to the third semester by the candidates having passed the Diploma Engineering Examination, conducted by the State Council of Technical Education & Vocational Training, Orissa or its equivalent securing at least 60% of the total marks in aggregate HOSTEL
